Interesting variants. The reading mittupahāraṃ seems to be more preferable.
(1) Confusion of letter mi- and ci- in a Sinhalese script (the below image is from C1).
(2) Similar parallel in AN (Dasakanipāta para. 30) strongly read the word mettūpahāraṃ with commentarial explanation.
(3) Chinese parallel in MA 213, 下意恭敬, seems to support cittpūpahāraṃ?
